Virginia Dare President Howard Smith, Jr., was recently featured in a Perfumer & Flavorist Q&A about the International Organization of the Flavor Industry (IOFI), of which he has been the president since December 2016.

Within the article, Smith discusses his views on the current state of the flavor industry, as well as where it is headed.

“We have an interesting, growing industry that makes a difference in the lives of consumers,” he said. “We have industry commitment to safety, innovation, sustaina­bility and global trade. We work hard to meet the needs of our customers, and we play a key role when trends in consumers’ tastes change. It’s a great industry with a lot of opportunities—for bright and creative people—be they scientists, regulatory folks or communic­ations pros.”
